Hiroshima day trip

I have always been interested in newer history, like the WW2 and Hiroshima was a must-visit when in Japan.

I took the Shinkansen bullet train from Fukuoka in the morning. It’s a 55 minute journey (and costs 650 NOK one way🤯)

Arriving in Hiroshima, I hopped on a tourist shuttle bus (Like hop on - hop off in Norway). This costs 30 nok.

Firstly, I went to the Hiroshima Art museum. It was very interesting how artists from Hiroshima made art comparing before and after. Some artists even could not paint anything until 30 years after the atomic bombs because of the traumas

There was a beautiful garden connected to the gallery where I had a nice stroll

After, I went back to the shuttle bus, with my next destination being the Hiroshima Peace Memorial Museum. I didn’t really know anything about it, but had to give it a try. I am so happy I did.

This is truly the best museum I have been to in my life. They did such a great job immersing you into the life of Hiroshima before, during and after the bombings. I only planned to stay here for 1 hour, but reading about the families, life and suffering induviduals, families and people went through. I was there for hours. Thousands of orphans losing all their family, rescue working dying of radiation after effects. Their diaries, the interviews, the first news articles, the consequence. The dark room we all went trough looking at this. The quietness. Everyone were just so stunned.

Everything this single bomb cause really made a huge impact on me and I had tear running down my face.

Im sitting here in a cafè in Taipei right now. I feel the tears coming back looking back at this experience.

After using a few hours at the memorial museum, I went to the park connected to it. They made a beautiful park at the excact location where the bomb was dropped. The epicenter

A friend of mine recommended me to see a place called Miyajimacho. I had never heard of the place, but walking back from the museum I found a cruise boat that went to that location. It was actually an island!

Story image

The couple in front of me were arguing all the time haha

The speer boat took about 45 minutes, and we arrived at the island. I didn’t know what to expect. We went off the boat and walked on to the island.

Now I know why my friend recommended me this place. Just 2 minutes of hopping of the boat, I could see that there were friendly deers EVERYWHERE!!

I didn’t visit the deers in Nara, and that was kinda sad. But here I could see the friendly deers that I missed!!

Hello!!

They were so kind!!

One of the deer was even bowing to be 🙇🏼‍♂️

It was much more to see in this island than the deers though! Take a look!

After spending about 1,5 hours here (you truly need more time than this. So much to do) I took the speedboat back to Hiroshima.

I was also recommended to try the famous Hiroshima disk «Okinomiaki», so I had a try! It a fried noodle dish. In that restaurant it was 5 different kitchens sharing the same waiters, so you get five different kitchens to choose from. Very cool actually. Here is my food! It tasted great, but a little to much cabbage for my tastee haha

Okinomiaki!

After the dinner, it was time to go back to Fukuoka! Where I had to rest before my trip back to Tokyo for a layover to TAIWAN!!🇹🇼
